Moira Huntly

Born 1932 in Motherwell, Moira spent her early childhood in northern Spain. She lives and works in the Cotswold.
Moira studied at the Harrow School of Art and the Hornsey College of Art gaining a London University degree in Art Teaching. She was the first woman President of the Pastel Society (UK) and a Governor of the Federation of British Artists. Moira is an active Member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Royal Institute of Marine Artists. She was elected to the Royal West of England Academy in 1995.
Moira mainly paints marine subjects, buildings and industrial landscapes, figures and still life. She uses a variety of media including mixed media. Attracted by diversity of form, pattern and colour, she searches out the abstract visual patterns in her subjects. She instinctively interprets her subjects in an imaginative way experimenting with mood and colour. In her landscapes, she paints abstract patterns with the application of various tones.
Moira is the recipient of numerous and prestigious art awards. She is also the authoress of several books on the art of drawing and painting. She is a well established and extremely popular artist who has exhibited extensively at home and abroad. Her paintings hang in many public, corporate and private collections throughout the world.
